A battle map with a fog of war you control. The players see only what you have revealed. You see the whole thing. That is the entire pitch, and it is why people keep it beside heavier tools.

What problem does it solve?

Sometimes you do not want to build a campaign in a virtual tabletop. You want to put a map on the screen, wipe the fog away as the party moves, and play. Dungeon Revealer does that and almost nothing else, which is the point: there is no game system to install, no character sheets, no module ecosystem to maintain.

How does a session run?

Two roles, each behind its own password. The DM sees everything, reveals areas and moves tokens. Players see only what has been revealed.

• Any image works as a map. Bring your own, or use one of the many free and paid mapmakers. High resolution is fine.
• Reveal as they explore, with brush and area tools.
• Stage the next map hidden, and push it live when the party gets there.
• Tokens, a shared dice roller, notes and a chat sidebar come along too, though the map is the reason to be here.

Do my players need an account?

No. Send them the address, they choose Player, they enter the player password, and they see the live map. Nothing to install and no ElfHosted account needed.

Because your players are not our customers, this app sits outside our single sign on, so its two passwords are the only thing between the internet and your maps. Set both before you share the address, and give them the care you would give any other password.

What does it deliberately not do?

No character sheets, no automated rules, no combat tracker. If you want those, Foundry VTT is the heavier tool. Plenty of tables run both: Foundry for the campaign, Dungeon Revealer for a one shot where setup time matters more than features.

What do I not have to deal with?

• A fixed address your table bookmarks once.
• Nothing opened on your home network, and no machine left running for the session.
• Backed up storage for the maps you have uploaded.

Do I need a licence? No. Dungeon Revealer is open source and free. You are paying for hosting.

How big can a map be? Large images are fine. Very large files simply take longer to reach players on slow connections.
