In Aug 2024, autoscan was deprecated by its developer, and no further updates or improvements will be forthcoming.

Autoscan was a "middleman" inbetween Radarr / Sonarr and streamers like Plex / Emby / Jellyfin, "collecting" pending updates (asyncronously), "saving them up", and then calling out to the streamer on a schedule to perform library updates.

Our Aar stacks have historically included Autoscan, but given the deprecation, the fact that the Aars are perfectly capable (now) of triggering updates themselves (and how tricky it can be to troubleshoot when something goes wrong!) we've also deprecated it.

If you still have Autoscan configured in your Radarr / Sonarr, you should now remove it (since it's gone), and instead add a direct connection to Plex / Emby / Jellyfin.

We've prepared guides on the process, linked below:

If you need help transitioning from ye olde autoscan to the simpler, better, and properly-supported direct connect setup, drop us a ticket in #elf-help!
