After a particularly nasty spam attack 2 months ago, we implemented a "verification" system in our Discord server, asking new members a series of questions in order to verify themselves for access to our ElfHosted channels. While effective at reducing spam, the process has been clunky and frustrating for new users, and didn't provide any sort of ongoing verification that a user was, actually, the elfie they claimed to be.
With the help of the talented Pulsarr developer, we've replaced this clunky system with a simple process, linking your Discord account to your store account.
Linking your account is a matter of visiting https://store.elfhosted.com/my-account/discord/, and clicking "Link Discord Account".
That's it! ๐ฅณ
After linking, your Discord account will have access to all the familiar ElfHosted channels, for as long as you have an active subscription, and provides us a means of verifying your account ownership in private tickets, ensuring that a malicious user can't "spoof" their username and request support on someone else's account!
The old verification system has been retired, and the role it bestowed will be removed in about 30h. There's no particular rush to link your account, but you'll shortly find that your access to channels will be limited and read-only, until you've linked your Discord account.
