Until today, we've explicitly disabled Plex's "auto-empty-trash" feature, after early issues with disappearing RD mounts caused some users' libraries to be emptied, when their RD mounts became inaccessible.
Of late, we've become better at preventing Plex (and the other streamers) from starting at all if the mounts aren't ready, and today's rollout adds a service which monitors the mounts every 5 minutes, and will restart the streamer if the mounts go away (at which point, the pod will just sit and wait for the mounts to return).
This means that users can now re-enable the option in Plex's Library preferences, to empty trash after a scan:
Why would you want to do this?
Well, since we have Huntarr now (Radarr/Sonarr users), whose job it is to go forth and seek viable upgrades for your media, it's expected that you may end up with some media files replaced with better versions - when this happens, Plex will display a red trash can over the old media (confuses users), but it won't finish removing the old item from your library, unless you manually empty the trash:
This is an unwanted chore for some users, and since we now have a robust way of making sure Plex doesn't just sit, deleting your library when RD has an outage, your token expires, or some other calamity hits, it's probably safe(r) to allow Plex to auto-empty trash.
Rather than enforce either a true or a false, we've just unlocked the empty-trash preference, so you can set it your self, based on your preference, going forward.
Jellyfin and Emby get Transcode-Killer
Oh, and we also added the UX-improved transcode-killer to Jellyfin and Emby, so even if you're not a Plex user, you should receive an email notification if the killer "snipes" one of your transcodes for being 4K, or otherwise anomalous 🙂
Dashboards gets alphabeticized
Finally, as of today you'll notice that the apps have changed places on your apps dashboard - they're now alphabetically sorted, rather than the first-come-first-serve "convention" we previously used. This is to better align with the upcoming ElfBot UI, which also sorts apps alphabetically and consistently 🙂
