Stremio is a beloved, free tool capable of streaming media across a range of platforms, including browsers, smart TVs, firesticks, and mobile phones. While Stremio is currently free, by necessity your streaming activity is synced with your Stremio account, so that you can use your account cross-devices.

To see what data Stremio records about your streaming, try using https://web.stremio.io with your browser's dev tools enabled, and examine all the sessions to/from api.strem.io:

Some users who prefer privacy re their streaming habits have qualms about the amount of data being currently sent to a 3rd party (not to mention the possibility of more data in future), and one such prolific user has implemented a "privacy hack", creating a drop-in replacement for the Stremio API, such that your streaming activity never leaves your control.

Flixio is a combination of this replacement API, combined with a patched instance of Stremio's web client, secured with a straightforward "web auth" password. Here's what the same activity looks like from a private Flixio instance:

The flixio API stores data in a simple SQLite database, which you can access (or backup/restore/destroy) within your ElfHosted filebrowser, at config/flixio-api

As an added bonus, the patched Stremio client also restores the ability to configure an external player, so that you can use Flixio on your mobile device to "broker" a stream to be played in your preferred player, such as Infuse or VLC:

Since Flixio is based on a modification to the web client, support is limited to devices which can run a web browser. Mobile phone (iOS) support works very well, but YMMV on other devices - for example, AppleTV doesn't currently have a way to launch web apps, and so Flixio is not helpful there.

Also note that (obviously), a Flixio instance is separate from your Stremio account, and so you'll want to setup addons etc independently.
