In Nov 2024, EasyDebrid was launched within days of RealDebrid's withdrawl of their InstantAvailability API endpoint, which threw the r/StremioAddons community into disarray.
Comet and MediaFusion were approached by the EasyDebrid developer, to implement EasyDebrid support in their respective addons.
It was since confirmed (in an evasive manner) by the u/ParadiseCloud Reddit account, that EasyDebrid is using Premiumize infrastructure. A screenshot of an email describing a wholesale relationship is linked to this Reddit comment. The connection with Premiumize was easily confirmed by the community due the fact that EasyDebrid API keys worked just like Premiumize API keys in popular Stremio addons.
Given that EasyDebrid was being evasive when reassurance and information were sought (admitted by EasyDebrid's "Dave" in private group DM), ElfHosted withdrew support for EasyDebrid under these circumstances. EasyDebrid users were able to continue using all popular Stremio Addons which already supported Premiumize.
What's changed
On 29 December, Premiumize withdrew whatever technical condition was allowing EasyDebrid API keys to work as Premiumize API keys, and EasyDebrid users are now limited as to which Stremio addons they can use.
ElfHosted's initial decision to withdraw EasyDebrid support was motivated by a desire to protect our users and platform from potentially bad experiences with EasyDebrid.
Since some of the uncertainty has cleared up now, and since existing EasyDebrid users are now impacted by circumstances outside of their control, we've decided to re-instate EasyDebrid support in the addons we host.
We're still uncomfortable with the closed, secretive, and hastily-put-together nature of EasyDebrid, and we would strongly caution users to make their own, responsible and informed decisions, especially with regard to payment details and privacy.
The following ElfHosted addons will shortly support EasyDebrid again:
- MediaFusion
- Comet
- StremThru (provide EasyDebrid support to other addons, like TorrentIO)
