ElfHosted Jellyfin users have long had their ElfStacks bundled with "Jellyfin Accounts", a relatively storage-heavy app intended for managing invites to a Jellyfin (and more recently, Emby) server.

Wizarr is a project which has recently relaunched development, and is intended to provide an even better (but more lightweight) featureset to Plex (and also Jellyfin/Emby!).

Think of it like this - when you want to invite a user to your Plex server, you have to use Plex's UIs to add them / friend them / share your library. It can be clunky, and without having a personal conversation with the invitee, it's hard to "coach" them into how to actually use Plex, and to correctly setup their client for DirectPlay, etc. It's also fiddly to invite them to just one library - say, "Kids Movies", without inviting them to your entire server.

Wizarr handles some of this onboarding for you - you tell it about your Plex server, your libraries, and optionally your Overseerr / Ombi / Discord server, and it facilitates invite links and basic onboarding steps to your invitees, on your behalf.

Here's an example of one of the steps in the onboarding, that the invitee might see:

It's still early days for Wizarr's dev, so expect some hiccups and feature changes, but they have good momentum, a friendly and welcoming Discord community, and we (ElfHosted ) are now a monthly sponsor! โค๏ธ

For parity with those pesky Jellyfin users (and because more invitees means free word-of-mouth advertising, and bigger, busier stacks!), we're bundling Wizarr FREE with every ElfHosted streaming stack (you can still get a standalone instance here if you want to integrate it with an external instance).

Look out for the new wizard-hat icon on your dashboard, and see the documentation here!

(If you're missing your Wizarr, it'll be waiting on your subscription to refresh - you can force it by visiting your account settings and just clicking "Save Changes")
