Hosted jfa-go: invite-based Jellyfin user management without running it yourself.
A managed instance of jfa-go (Jellyfin Accounts) hosted on ElfHosted. Send invite-based signups to friends and family, enforce password rules, set account expiries, and automate Jellyfin user management. Already bundled in every Jellyfin Personal Media Stack — buy this only if you self-host Jellyfin elsewhere and want jfa-go managed by ElfHosted.
Hosted Jellyfin user management for the small audience that doesn't get jfa-go bundled with a Personal Media Stack.
What is JFA?
jfa-go (Jellyfin Accounts) is a polished user-management front-end for Jellyfin. It replaces Jellyfin's built-in account creation with an invite-based flow: send a secure link via email, Discord, or Telegram, the recipient sets their own password and lands in your library with the permissions you've pre-configured.
This product is a hosted instance of jfa-go on ElfHosted, pointed at a Jellyfin server you run elsewhere. Important: if you also host your Jellyfin on ElfHosted via a Personal Media Stack, jfa-go is already bundled — you don't need this product.
Key Features
- ✉️ Invite-based signups: generate a secure invite link and send it via email, Discord, or Telegram. Recipient sets their own credentials.
- ⏱️ Invite control: set validity windows and usage limits per invite — useful for one-shot guest passes or open enrolment windows.
- 👥 Account profiles: apply pre-configured Jellyfin permissions and library access to new users automatically.
- 🔐 Password policy & resets: enforce minimum password rules; let users self-serve resets via email or Telegram.
- 📅 Account expiry: set expiration dates for time-limited access (free trials, monthly memberships, guest stays).
- 🔔 Notifications: get pinged when an invite is used, expires, or an account is created.
- 🔗 Overseerr integration: sync with Overseerr/Jellyseerr for request workflows tied to your Jellyfin user list.
Do You Actually Need This?
Probably not. JFA is bundled in every Personal Media Stack with a Jellyfin variant — Starter, Hobbit, Ranger, Halfling, and Nazgul all include jfa-go out of the box if you pick Jellyfin as your media server. Buy this standalone only if:
- You self-host Jellyfin somewhere other than ElfHosted (home server, another VPS) and want jfa-go to be managed.
- You want a separate jfa-go instance for some niche workflow not covered by the bundled one.
If you're hosting Jellyfin on ElfHosted already, the bundled version of jfa-go in your Personal Media Stack does everything this product does.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this work with Emby or Plex?
No — jfa-go is Jellyfin-specific. For Plex, look at Plex's own friend invite system or third-party tools like Wizarr. For Emby, use Emby's built-in user management.
I already have a Personal Media Stack with Jellyfin. Do I need this?
No. Every Jellyfin variant of a Personal Media Stack already includes jfa-go. Buying this standalone alongside a stack is redundant.
My Jellyfin is on a home server / different VPS. Will this work?
Yes, as long as your Jellyfin is reachable from the public internet (or a Tailscale exit node we can reach). jfa-go talks to Jellyfin's HTTP API.
Does it integrate with Overseerr or Jellyseerr?
Yes. jfa-go can sync new accounts into Overseerr/Jellyseerr so request permissions follow Jellyfin user creation automatically.
Hosted jfa-go for Jellyfin self-hosters who don't already get it bundled. Inviting friends and family to your library should not require you to babysit a user-management container — let ElfHosted run it.
