AIOMetadata v3 is live on every private instance we host, for Stremio and for Nuvio. It is the biggest release the addon has had, and three of its changes remove work that used to land on you.

Trakt for Stremio, without registering an app 🔗

Connecting Trakt used to mean going to Trakt's developer portal, creating an API application, copying a client ID and secret back into your addon, and keeping that registration alive. Trakt has been tightening who may do that: apps on free accounts were removed in August, and creating one now needs a verified GitHub account.

On a private instance there is nothing to register. Open the Trakt section, read the code it shows you, type it in at trakt.tv, and you are connected. Your watch history and lists are yours; the registration is ours.

AI search in Stremio, with no API key of your own 🔍

AIOMetadata can answer a search like "films where the twist is the narrator" rather than matching a title. That used to need your own model key, which meant an account with an AI provider, a billing card, and a key pasted into your config.

Now the provider comes with the instance. Turn AI search on and it works. If you would rather bring your own key, that still wins over ours.

A Jellyfin server for your Stremio addons 📺

v3 can serve your catalogues over the Jellyfin protocol on its own, so a Jellyfin app can browse everything your addons find: shelves, search, collections inside collections, and a More Like This row. This one runs on private instances only, and is not switched on for the public instance. Your debrid and usenet sources come along, so a Jellyfin app on the TV plays what your addons find. If you are already using JellyStreams for that, keep it. If you are not, you now have the option without adding anything.

Does AIOMetadata work with Nuvio? 🎬

Yes. AIOMetadata for Nuvio installs the same way it does in Stremio: configure your instance, then add the manifest to Nuvio. Your catalogues, artwork and provider choices follow you between the two, because they live in your instance rather than in the app.

v3 improves the Nuvio side specifically. Collections can now hold other collections, and where Jellyfin shows them as nested box sets, Nuvio and Fusion get them flattened into a list the app can display properly. The AI search and Trakt changes above work in Nuvio too, since both happen on your instance rather than in the player.

The dashboard nobody told you about 📊

A private instance carries an admin dashboard of its own, at /dashboard on your instance's address. It reports what your instance has served, what was recently played and when, how the cache is behaving, and which configurations are in use. On a shared instance that view belongs to whoever runs it, which is us.

It is off until you give it a key. Set an ADMIN_KEY of your choosing with ElfBot, open the dashboard, and enter it when asked. The documentation has the steps, and Sam can walk you through it if you would rather ask.

Do I already have it? 🤔

If you subscribe to AIOMetadata, the AIOMagic Bundle or the Stremio Addons Bundle, then yes. v3 rolled out to every private instance this week and there is nothing to install. Open your dashboard and the Trakt and AI sections are waiting.

If you use the public instance at aiometadata.elfhosted.com, you have the addon but not these pieces. The next section is the honest case for the difference.

Why run a private AIOMetadata instance? ⚡

The public AIOMetadata instance is shared by everyone. A private one is shaped around you:

• Your catalogues and posters are cached before you ask for them. Your instance pre-warms the catalogues you use, on your providers and in your language, and keeps their artwork alongside. The difference is the one you feel every time you open Stremio: shelves and posters already there, rather than a grid filling in while you wait.
• That cache is yours alone. It holds what you browse, instead of being evicted by thousands of other people's browsing on a shared instance.
• The admin dashboard above, which a shared instance cannot hand out.
• The setup work is done. Trakt, the AI provider, the metadata keys, Redis, the poster cache: all wired before you arrive.

An afternoon of registering accounts, or a subscription that arrives configured. That is the trade.
