This app is a brand-new addition to ElfHosted, and is considered beta. It runs, we test it, and your trial lets you prove it fits before you commit, but our support team does not yet have deep experience with it. Expect some trial and error: lean on the upstream documentation, experiment freely, and share what you learn in Discord, where the community and team are figuring these new apps out together. What is Chaptarr?

Chaptarr is a book collection manager born as a Readarr fork and grown into its own project. Where Readarr forced you to run two instances (one for eBooks, one for audiobooks), Chaptarr manages both formats in a single library: separate root folders if you want them, multi-edition support so the audiobook and eBook of the same title live side by side, narrator-aware matching, series management, and optional MP3 to M4B conversion with chapters preserved.

Unlike Readarr, whose metadata servers are defunct, Chaptarr runs its own metadata pipeline that resolves books across multiple providers, so search and matching actually work.

Chaptarr does not host, index, or download any books. It organises the library you point it at; acquisition happens through your own indexers and clients, subject to the laws that apply to you.

Does Chaptarr include any books?
No. Chaptarr organises the library you point it at and hands grabs to your own download clients and indexers; it never hosts books itself.

Can I migrate from Readarr?
There is no in-place database migration: point a fresh Chaptarr at your existing library folders and let it import and match your files, then retire your Readarr subscription(s).

Do I still need separate eBook and audiobook instances?
No. One Chaptarr manages both formats, which is rather the point.

Is it stable?
Upstream calls it beta: over 11,000 active users and no reported data loss in the last six months, but expect occasional rough edges and breaking changes.
