Our AIOStreams and MediaFusion Stremio addons bundle in StremThru or MediaFusion, as an option for Stremio users who want to "proxy" their RD streams via their addon, to avoid running into RealDebrid's one-source-ip-at-a-time policy.
This proxying service is useful for Plex users too, who want to casually use Stremio with their RD key every now and then, to avoid the effort of updating their Plex libraries for "on-demand" content (families with small kids who can't make up their minds, right? 🙋♂️)
These bundled proxies were defaulted to 64Mbps, enough for one (maybe two if low-quality) 1080P streams, but unlikely to stream any decent 4K content. "Boosters" are available to increase streaming throughput, and some 4K-friendly users have taken advantage of these.
Since we now have more contended capacity with the US East Coast datacenter (.party) coming online, and to celebrate our 2 year birthday 🎂, we've doubled the bandwidth on bundled proxystreaming services enough to comfortably support a 4K stream! (currently 150Mbps, but we'll observe and evaluate, keeping 4K playability as a baseline).
What about users who previously "boosted" their ProxyStreaming?
The boosters have been doubled too. So if you were previously on a 4K proxystreaming boost, you're now on a 2x4K boost, 2x4K boosters are now 4x4K boosters, etc etc.
How to get mooar speed?
If your proxystreaming is not reliably streaming 4K, your stack may not be on the closest ElfHosted datacenter to you. Run a test at https://speed.elfhosted.com, and if the results show better performance to a datacenter other than the default EU site, then consider migrating your stack. It's automatic and painless (provided you follow the docs). Create an #elf-help ticket if you have questions!
If you already have optimal connectivity but you just want to boost your proxystreaming further, pick a booster pack from the store!
Plex bundles when?
Plex bundles already start at 4K, with streaming limits doubling as you transition from Zurgling / Starter -> Hobbit -> Ranger -> Halfling -> Nazgul. Plex bandwith allocations are also dedicated, rather than contended.
However, Plex users can grab an AIOStreams instance using their bundled discount, to take advantage of occasional Stremio proxystreaming 🚀
