Comet (with 4K proxystreaming)

What is Comet?

Comet is an open-source Stremio addon that sources media from your debrid account by searching DMM public shared hashlists and your own custom indexers via Prowlarr or Jackett. It delivers high-quality, cached-torrent streams directly into Stremio — no torrent clients, no waiting for downloads.

Features

• 🎬 Debrid-cached streaming: works with your debrid account
• 🔍 Multi-source search — DMM hashlists and custom Prowlarr/Jackett indexers
• 📺 4K proxy streaming — stream 4K content through ElfHosted’s proxy (boostable)
• 🛡️ Dedicated IP proxy — all traffic routes through your ElfHosted IP, giving you a stable, dedicated IP for your provider account
• ⚡ Higher rate limits — private instance means no sharing limits with the public Comet instance
• 🎛️ Custom indexer support — connect your own Prowlarr or Jackett instance for additional indexers and niche sources

Comet in Your Streaming Ecosystem

Comet sits at the heart of the debrid-powered Stremio setup. Pair it with:

• 🔎 Prowlarr — manage your indexers and feed them directly into Comet
• 🗂️ Jackett — legacy indexer proxy if you’re already on Jackett
• 🌐 Public Comet instance — ElfHosted also runs a free public instance, but with rate limits and no proxy protection
• 📡 AIOStreams / Stremio-Addon-Manager — aggregate Comet with other addons for a unified stream list

Why ElfHosted?

Self-hosting Comet is deceptively complex. The official Docker setup requires three separate services running in sync: the Comet container itself, a PostgreSQL database, and a Caddy reverse proxy for HTTPS (Stremio rejects non-HTTPS addon URLs). Get any one of those wrong and your addon URL simply won’t install.

ElfHosted also routes all Comet traffic through a single dedicated ElfHosted IP, so your provider account sees one stable source wherever you’re watching from, whether that’s a home TV or a phone on 4G.

• 🚀 No Docker setup — no PostgreSQL, no Caddy, no reverse proxy to maintain
• 🛡️ Stable, dedicated IP — all streams go through your dedicated ElfHosted IP
• 🔄 Always up-to-date — ElfHosted tracks upstream Comet releases automatically
• 📞 Community support — ElfHosted Discord with Comet-specific channels and guides

FAQ

Is this different from the public Comet at comet.elfhosted.com?
Yes — the public instance is rate-limited and shared. Your private instance has higher limits, 4K proxy streaming, and a stable, dedicated IP for your provider account.

Does the proxy mean slower streams?
The proxy adds minimal latency. For 4K streams, a Boost plan is recommended to ensure sufficient bandwidth.

Can I use this with other debrid providers?
Yes, Comet supports several debrid providers. The dedicated IP applies to all of them.
