What is Comet?

Comet is an open-source Stremio addon that sources media from debrid services (Real-Debrid, AllDebrid, Premiumize) by searching DMM public shared hashlists, Torrentio, and your own custom indexers via Prowlarr or Jackett. It delivers high-quality, cached-torrent streams directly into Stremio — no torrent clients, no waiting for downloads.

Why ElfHosted?

Self-hosting Comet is deceptively complex. The official Docker setup requires three separate services running in sync: the Comet container itself, a PostgreSQL database, and a Caddy reverse proxy for HTTPS (Stremio rejects non-HTTPS addon URLs). Get any one of those wrong and your addon URL simply won't install.

The bigger risk is Real-Debrid's multi-IP detection. Real-Debrid tracks source IPs and will permanently ban accounts that stream from two different IPs — meaning if your self-hosted Comet is on a home server and you also stream from a phone on 4G, you're at risk. ElfHosted routes all Comet traffic through a single dedicated ElfHosted IP, so your debrid account sees only one source regardless of where you're watching from.

FAQ

Is this different from the public Comet at comet.elfhosted.com?
Yes — the public instance is rate-limited and shared. Your private instance has higher limits, 4K proxy streaming, and the dedicated IP that protects your debrid account.

Does the proxy mean slower streams?
The proxy adds minimal latency. For 4K streams, a Boost plan is recommended to ensure sufficient bandwidth.

Can I use this with AllDebrid or Premiumize?
Yes, all three major debrid providers are supported. The multi-IP protection applies to all of them.
