Included in every Flex plan. The from price is Flex Pro paid yearly, running 18 apps at once. Flex starts at $9.00 a month for 4 apps.

Early Access
This app is a brand-new addition to ElfHosted, and is considered beta. It runs, we test it, and your trial lets you prove it fits before you commit, but our support team does not yet have deep experience with it. Expect some trial and error: lean on the upstream documentation, experiment freely, and share what you learn in Discord, where the community and team are figuring these new apps out together. If you need a battle-tested workflow today, our established apps are the safer pick.
What is Engram?
Engram is an open-source flashcard app built on spaced repetition. You review a few cards a day, rate how well you knew each one, and Engram works out when you should see it next: soon if you struggled, weeks away if you nailed it. It schedules with FSRS v6, the modern algorithm newer versions of Anki also use, and runs in any browser, with an installable app for your phone.
Key Features
- More than front and back: Cloze deletions, typed answers, numbers with a tolerance, single and multiple choice, and true or false.
- Rich cards: Markdown, maths formulas, and uploaded pictures or audio, so pronunciation clips live on the card.
- The whole household: Everyone gets their own account. Share a deck once, and each person keeps their own progress through it.
- Review reminders: An email when cards are due, and a weekly summary of how you are doing. We send them, so there is nothing to set up.
- AI-ready: A built-in MCP server lets an AI assistant turn your notes, a textbook chapter or a word list into a deck of cards.
- Statistics: How much you're remembering, what's due in the days ahead, your study streak, and a breakdown by deck and tag.
Why Run Engram on ElfHosted?
A study habit only works if the cards are there every day. ElfHosted keeps Engram online, so the deck you started on the train is waiting on your laptop.
- Managed and maintained: Your instance is provisioned in minutes, kept updated, and backed by friendly humans on Discord.
- One dashboard: Sits alongside the rest of your ElfHosted subscription, no servers to run yourself.
- Persistent and backed up: Your decks and progress survive restarts and upgrades, with a daily backup.
- Simple subscription: One flat monthly price with a 7-day trial, cancel anytime. Or run it as part of the Flex collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I log in?
Engram sits behind your ElfHosted login. On your first visit, Engram shows a one-time setup page: complete it straight away, and that account becomes the admin. Then invite the rest of the household from the admin panel.
Can I bring my Anki decks?
Not directly: Engram imports its own deck format, not Anki's .apkg files. Export your Anki deck as plain text and have an AI assistant create the cards through Engram's MCP endpoint, or add them by hand.
Is it good for learning a language?
Yes. Vocabulary and grammar suit spaced repetition well, and cards can carry readings, example sentences and audio.
