What is Polyfin?

Polyfin is a community project that makes your Stremio addons look like an ordinary Jellyfin server. The Jellyfin apps your household already uses (Infuse, Swiftfin, Odin, Findroid, the official Jellyfin apps and the web player) sign in to it, and your addons' catalogues appear as libraries, with posters, search, episode lists and resume.

What makes it different is that everyone gets their own account: their own Continue Watching and Next Up, their own history, and their own limits, set once by you.

Polyfin does not provide media. It plays what your own addons and providers find.

An account for everyone

• Their own history. Watched marks, favourites, resume points and Next Up are kept per person and follow them from app to app.
• Their own limits. A maximum rating, blocked genres, the hours they can watch, how many of their screens play at once, and the highest quality they're offered.
• Invite links. Send one link and each person sets their own name and password; a child's account can start with a child's rules.
• Their own watch tracking. Each person connects their own MDBList or PublicMetaDB account (Trakt and Simkl once you register an app with each).
• Weekly summaries and new-episode alerts to each person's own channel, such as Discord or ntfy.
• Quick Connect, so nobody types a password with a TV remote.

Experimental Early Preview

Polyfin is an experimental Early Preview app. The upstream project moves quickly, so expect rough edges and change between releases. We check each release before it reaches you.

Direct play only, no transcoding. Streams go straight from their source to your app, which keeps playback fast, but your device must play the format as it is. Apps such as Infuse play almost everything; a web browser is the pickiest player.

Not included on ElfHosted: Live TV and IPTV, recordings, local folders, network shares (SMB and WebDAV), and torrents or P2P.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Jellyfin server as well?
No. Polyfin is the server. You install a Jellyfin app on each device and point it at your Polyfin address.

Do my family need ElfHosted accounts?
No. Everyone signs in with a Polyfin account you create, or one they set up from your invite link.

Does it include media?
No. The subscription is for managed Polyfin hosting and the bundled apps. You bring your own sources and are responsible for what you configure.

Is this screen time?
Polyfin's allowed hours are a schedule (for example, no watching after eight on school nights), not a daily time budget, and its limits work by rating and genre. If you want daily screen time, limits by what is in a title, or a child asking a parent to unlock something, look at AIOMagic with JellyStreams.

Does Polyfin transcode?
No. Hosted Polyfin is direct play only. Use an app such as Infuse for the widest format support, or choose AVC/H.264 versions when watching in a browser.

Polyfin or Remux?
