Meet Your FreshRSS Feed Aggregator

FreshRSS is a fast, no-fluff RSS and Atom feed reader. Feed it the URLs of the sites, YouTube channels, podcasts and newsletters you actually want to follow, and it keeps them in a single, chronological reading list that stays in sync across your laptop, tablet and phone.

No algorithmic shuffle. No "people also read" clickbait. No ads. Just the things you chose to follow, in the order they were published, waiting for you to read them when you've got a minute.

If you've used Feedly, Inoreader, The Old Reader or NewsBlur, FreshRSS will feel instantly familiar, and your OPML export will import in a single click.

Why FreshRSS Makes Life Easier

  • One reading list for everything. Blogs, YouTube subscriptions, Reddit communities, podcasts, mailing lists with RSS gateways: all in one place.
  • Proper mobile apps. Reeder, FluentReader, FeedMe, NetNewsWire and Readrops connect straight to FreshRSS over the Google Reader API.
  • No inbox FOMO. Mark as read, filter, tag, search, or skim by category. You decide what's worth opening.
  • Your feeds, your rules. FreshRSS pulls directly from the source, so you see what the publisher actually wrote, not what a social feed decided to show you.
  • Extensible. A whole ecosystem of community extensions covers full-article fetching, YouTube-video rendering, read-it-later integrations and more.

Product Highlights

Fast OPML import and export. Migrate from any other reader in seconds by uploading the OPML file it generated for you, and take your feed list with you if you ever leave.

Clean web UI with light, dark and reader themes. Read comfortably from a desktop browser, a laptop on the couch, or a phone on the train.

Google Reader and Fever API compatibility. Point your favourite mobile or desktop RSS client at your FreshRSS instance and carry on reading without rebuilding muscle memory.

Tags, filters and full-text search. Tag feeds, filter by keyword, star articles for later, and search back through everything FreshRSS has fetched.

Active open source project. Regular releases, a friendly community, and a small resource footprint that will happily hum along for years.

Let ElfHosted Handle the Heavy Lifting for FreshRSS

  • No server to babysit. We run FreshRSS on our Kubernetes platform, keep it updated, and make sure the cron job that polls your feeds actually runs.
  • Backups and monitoring included. Nightly backups of your feed list and read state, plus a Gatus health check so you know when something is off before you do.
  • Single sign-on. Log in once to your ElfHosted dashboard and every one of your apps, FreshRSS included, just works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use FreshRSS with Reeder / NetNewsWire / FluentReader / FeedMe?
Yes. FreshRSS speaks the Google Reader API (and the older Fever API), so any client that supports either will connect straight to your ElfHosted instance. Set an API password inside FreshRSS and point the app at https://yourname-freshrss.elfhosted.com/api/greader.php.

Can I import my feeds from Feedly, Inoreader or NewsBlur?
Absolutely. Export an OPML file from your old reader and drop it into FreshRSS under Subscription management, Import / export. Your categories and feeds rebuild themselves in seconds.

Does FreshRSS follow YouTube channels?
Yes. YouTube publishes per-channel RSS feeds, and FreshRSS has an extension that renders them inline with thumbnails and embedded players.

Is my data private?
Your feed list and read state live in a database on your own ElfHosted tenant, backed up nightly to encrypted object storage. Nobody is mining your reading history for ad targeting.

Can I share FreshRSS with people who don't have an ElfHosted account?
Yes. Flip the "exposed" switch via ElfBot and FreshRSS will sit in front of ElfHosted SSO, relying on its own login instead. Create accounts inside FreshRSS for each user and hand out the URL.

What about full-article fetching for sites that only publish a snippet?
Install the Fetch Full Article community extension, set a CSS selector for the article body, and FreshRSS will pull the complete content into your reader.

Is there a limit on how many feeds I can add?
No practical limit. FreshRSS comfortably handles thousands of feeds on a single instance.

Get started

Seven days of free FreshRSS, no commitment. Kick the tyres, import your feed list, point your phone at it, and see whether it clicks.

If you keep it, $9 a month covers the lot, including updates, backups and SSO. ElfHosted does the boring Kubernetes parts so you can get back to reading.
