Tautulli monitors your Plex server activity and tracks detailed statistics — who watched what, when, and from where — in a clean dashboard that Plex itself doesn’t provide.
What is Tautulli?
Tautulli is an open-source monitoring and analytics application for Plex Media Server. It records every play, pause, and stop on your server, tracks user activity, generates watch history reports, and sends notifications via Discord, Telegram, email, or dozens of other platforms when specific events happen.
Features
- 📊 Watch history tracking — full play/pause/stop log per user, per item, per device
- 📈 Statistics dashboards — most watched content, top users, popular times, device breakdown
- 🔔 Notifications — Discord, Telegram, Slack, email, Pushover, and 20+ other platforms
- 📋 Newsletters — automated weekly/monthly media summaries to your users
- 🎬 Recently added feeds — notify your household when new content lands
- 📱 User management — per-user watch stats, playback quality, and device reports
Tautulli in Your Media Stack
- 📺 Plex Media Server — Tautulli connects directly to your Plex instance
- 🔔 Notifiarr — combine Tautulli events with Notifiarr for richer Discord notifications
- 👥 Ombi / Seerr — pair with a request portal so users can request what Tautulli shows they're interested in
Why ElfHosted?
Self-hosting Tautulli requires it to reach your Plex server's websocket — which means both need to be on the same Docker network with the correct hostnames and API token configured. The common failure mode is Tautulli silently failing to connect (no error, just no data recording) because the Plex URL is wrong, the token expired, or a network bridge changed after a Docker restart. On ElfHosted, Tautulli is pre-wired to your Plex instance — just provide your Plex token on setup and it works.
- 🔗 Pre-wired to your ElfHosted Plex — no Docker network config or URL guessing
- 🚀 No separate container to manage — runs alongside your media stack
- 🔒 SSO protected — dashboard secured by ElfHosted's standard SSO
