Early Access
This app is a brand-new addition to ElfHosted, and is considered beta. It runs, we test it, and your trial lets you prove it fits before you commit, but our support team does not yet have deep experience with it. Expect some trial and error: lean on the upstream documentation, experiment freely, and share what you learn in Discord, where the community and team are figuring these new apps out together. If you need a battle-tested workflow today, our established apps are the safer pick.
What is Healthchecks?
Healthchecks monitors anything that is supposed to run on a schedule. Each check gives you a unique ping URL, your cron job or script hits it every time it finishes, and if a ping does not arrive inside the expected window Healthchecks alerts you. It is the simplest way to know that your backups, syncs, and scheduled scripts are actually running, not silently failing.
Key Features
- Ping-based monitoring: Every check has its own URL, your job pings it on success and Healthchecks watches the schedule.
- Flexible schedules: Simple periods or full cron expressions, each with its own grace window.
- Start and failure signals: Signal a job's start and explicit failure so a crashed run pages you immediately.
- Rich alerting: Get notified by email and many other channels when a job misses its window.
- Ping log: Every ping is logged so you can see exactly when a job started drifting.
Works With
- Any cron job or script: Add a single curl command to the end of a script to report success.
- Backup and sync tasks: Confirm your scheduled backups and rclone syncs actually complete.
Why Run Healthchecks on ElfHosted?

- One dashboard: Sits alongside the rest of your ElfHosted subscription, no servers to run yourself.
- Persistent and backed up: Your data survives restarts and upgrades.
- Simple subscription: One flat monthly price with a 7-day trial, cancel anytime.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I log in to Healthchecks?
Healthchecks is served publicly (so your external jobs can post their pings directly), with its own login. Sign in with your own ElfHosted email address and password changemeelfie, then change the password straight away from the account menu.
How do I monitor a cron job?
Create a check, copy its ping URL, and have your job hit it on success, for example add && curl -fsS <ping-url> to the end of a shell script.
What happens when a job fails?
If a ping does not arrive inside the schedule plus grace window, Healthchecks alerts you. You can also signal failure explicitly for immediate notification.
