Jellyfin [Standalone]
$18.00 / month with a 7-day free trial and a $1.00 sign-up fee
Add Jellyfin to the Personal Media Stack you already run on ElfHosted.
Jellyfin, hosted alongside your existing Personal Media Stack (Starter, Hobbit, Ranger, Halfling, or Nazgul). Inherits the hardware tier and library of your parent stack — no separate setup, no second debrid account, no duplicated storage. No subscription required (FOSS).
A standalone Jellyfin that snaps onto your existing ElfHosted Personal Media Stack — same library, same hardware tier, just a second media server interface.
What is the Jellyfin Standalone?
This is a hosted instance of Jellyfin designed to augment an existing ElfHosted Personal Media Stack. It's not a complete media solution on its own — there's no debrid integration, no automation (Sonarr/Radarr), no library workflow. All of that lives in your parent stack.
Use this when you've already got a Hobbit, Ranger, Halfling, or Nazgul running, and you want to add a second media server alongside the one bundled with your stack. Common reasons: running Plex for friends and Jellyfin for yourself, migrating between media servers without downtime, or letting different family members pick their preferred client.
The standalone Jellyfin server points at the same library as your bundled media server — no need to re-download or re-organise anything.
Key Features
- 📚 Same library, second interface: reads from your existing Personal Media Stack's library — no duplicate downloads, no separate debrid account.
- 🛠️ Pre-configured: mounts and library paths are set up to match your stack out of the box.
- 🎬 Jellyfin is the FOSS choice — no upstream subscription, no client-side paywalls, no telemetry. Native apps on iOS, Android, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, web, and desktop.
- 🔌 Inherits your stack's hardware tier: performance, concurrent stream count, and transcoding capability come from the parent stack you've already chosen.
- 🔄 Updates handled by ElfHosted: Jellyfin is kept current alongside the rest of your stack.
Standalone Jellyfin vs a Full Personal Media Stack
This product is the media server only. If you don't already have a Personal Media Stack on ElfHosted, you almost certainly want one of those instead — they bundle a Jellyfin (or your choice of Plex/Jellyfin/Emby) with everything else needed for a working library:
- Hobbit / Ranger / Halfling — three hardware tiers with hardware transcoding up to 1080p, bundled debrid or Usenet account, and a Jellyfin variant included.
- Nazgul — top-tier hardware with 4K transcoding, bundled provider account, all the bells and whistles.
You only want this standalone product if you already have one of those stacks and want to add a second media server interface on top.
Why Run Jellyfin on ElfHosted?
Self-hosting a media server alongside an existing one is more work than it sounds. You need the second server to see the same library files, you need it to update without breaking your primary, and you need to keep clients on both happy. ElfHosted's standalone product handles the plumbing:
- Library mount is pre-configured to match your Personal Media Stack — both servers see the same files.
- No second debrid/Usenet account — uses what's already attached to your stack.
- No second copy of your media on disk.
- Jellyfin updates managed by ElfHosted, in lockstep with the rest of your stack.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Personal Media Stack to use this?
Yes. This product is explicitly an add-on to an existing Personal Media Stack — it has no library, no debrid integration, and no automation of its own.
What if I don't have a Personal Media Stack yet?
Buy one of the Personal Media Stack tiers instead. Each one bundles your choice of Plex/Jellyfin/Emby plus everything else needed for a working library. Much better value than buying components separately.
What hardware does this run on?
The same hardware tier as your parent stack. A Jellyfin standalone added to a Hobbit gets Hobbit-tier resources; added to a Nazgul, it gets Nazgul-tier resources.
Do I need a Jellyfin subscription?
No. Jellyfin is fully free and open-source — no subscription required, ever. Remote streaming, hardware transcoding (on supported tiers), and friends-and-family sharing all work without paying upstream.
Will my library show up automatically?
Yes. The standalone is pre-configured to mount the same library paths as your parent stack's bundled media server, so the same content shows up in both.
Can I run more than one standalone media server alongside my stack?
Yes. There's nothing stopping you from running, say, a standalone Plex and a standalone Emby alongside your Hobbit's bundled Jellyfin — though most users only need one alternate.
Standalone Jellyfin is for ElfHosted Personal Media Stack owners who want a second media server interface on top of what their stack already provides — same library, same hardware, no duplication. If you don't have a stack yet, get a Personal Media Stack instead.
