What is the Channels DVR Wizard?
A one-time, white-glove configuration of Channels DVR on ElfHosted. You provide your Channels licence, your tuner devices or TVE provider login, and the recording behaviour you want. An ElfVenger applies the configuration and validates that live TV and DVR work for your sources. After hand-off, the configuration is yours to operate.
What we'll configure (using your sources)
- 📡 The sources you bring — your own HDHomeRun device, TVE provider login, or M3U/IPTV list you already subscribe to.
- 📅 Guide data, channel mapping, and channel renumbering for your channels.
- ⏺️ Recording rules and pass schedules per your direction.
- 🌐 Remote access via your ElfHosted subdomain.
- 🧪 Validated playback and recording on your sources before hand-off.
What you provide
- An active Channels DVR licence purchased direct from Channels.
- Your own tuner hardware (HDHomeRun) reachable from the internet, OR your TVE/cable provider credentials, OR your own legitimate IPTV/M3U source.
- Your preferences for channel layout, recording rules, and storage layout.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Channels DVR subscription?
Yes — Channels DVR requires a paid licence direct from Channels. ElfHosted hosts the app; Channels invoices you for the licence.
Do you supply IPTV / TV sources?
No. You bring your own legitimate source — HDHomeRun, your TVE provider login, or an IPTV/M3U list you already subscribe to. We do not source, recommend, or supply channel feeds.
Can you migrate my existing Channels setup?
Yes — share your current config or backup and we'll bring it across.
What is NOT included?
We do not supply, recommend, or sign you up for third-party indexers, debrid services, IPTV providers, content libraries, or any other external service. You bring your own accounts and content; we apply the configuration you give us.
Is this ongoing managed support?
No. This is a single, one-time configuration session. After hand-off, you own and operate the stack. Routine support questions go through normal ElfHosted Discord support; deeper re-architecture work needs a follow-up Wizard session.
Will you store my credentials?
No. Credentials shared during the session are used only to complete your setup and are not retained afterwards.
