Managed Hound hosting for a hybrid media server: library, built-in player, and watch tracking in one app.
Hosted Hound: managed hybrid media-server hosting for people who want library management, playback, and watch tracking under one roof.
Early Access
This app is a brand-new addition to ElfHosted, and is considered beta. It runs, we test it, and your trial lets you prove it fits before you commit, but our support team does not yet have deep experience with it. Expect some trial and error: lean on the upstream documentation, experiment freely, and share what you learn in Discord, where the community and team are figuring these new apps out together. If you need a battle-tested workflow today, our established apps are the safer pick.
What is Hound?
Hound is a hybrid media server that combines the jobs you would normally split across two or three apps: a media library with poster art and rich metadata, a built-in player with automatic resume across devices, and Trakt-style watch tracking with per-episode watched state, season progress, custom collections, reviews, and comments. Browse, pick, play, and Hound remembers exactly where you are.
It is multi-user (the admin creates accounts, and each user gets their own history and collections), has native Android and Android TV apps, and connects to your own debrid services for playback sources. Hound does not host or provide any content: what you can play depends entirely on the services and providers you configure and are authorised to use.
Key Features
- Library and discovery: Trending, discover, and search views with poster art, backdrops, and a clean dark-mode-first UI.
- Built-in player: Click play in the browser; resume picks up where you left off, on any device.
- Watch tracking: Watched state per episode, season progress, custom collections, reviews, and comments, all on your own instance.
- Multi-user: Separate history and collections per account, managed by the admin.
- Android and Android TV apps: Sideload the official app, log in with your instance URL, and watch on phone or TV (iOS and tvOS in development upstream).
- Connects to your own debrid services: Wire in the provider accounts you already hold, and Hound resolves playback through them.
Hound in Your Stack
Hound suits customers who want one app to browse, play, and track rather than a full Plex-plus-tracker setup. It sits comfortably alongside the ElfHosted Stremio addon ecosystem, using provider profiles you configure, and pairs with your existing debrid subscriptions such as Real-Debrid or TorBox. The ElfHosted build is tuned for managed hosting: no peer-to-peer components run in your tenant, and nothing accumulates on disk.
Why Run Hound on ElfHosted?
Beta software with a fast release cadence is exactly what managed hosting is for: we track upstream, apply the hosting-appropriate hardening, and keep your instance running while you just watch.
- Managed access and support: Provisioned in minutes, kept current with upstream, with humans on Discord when you need them.
- Plays well with other ElfHosted apps: Slots into the same subscription as your addons, trackers, and dashboards.
- Persistent config: Users, watch history, collections, and provider profiles survive restarts and upgrades.
- Simple subscription: One flat monthly price with a 7-day trial, cancel anytime.
Works With
- Your debrid services: Real-Debrid, TorBox, and similar accounts you already hold.
- AIOStreams: A high-leverage provider profile to start with.
- Android / Android TV: Official apps for phone and living room.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Hound include any movies or shows?
No. Hound is a library, player, and tracker. Playback sources come only from the provider profiles and debrid services you configure yourself, and you are responsible for using services you are authorised to use.
How do I log in?
Hound manages its own accounts. Your instance ships with a default admin login: sign in at your instance URL and change the password in the user menu before anything else. Then create accounts for the rest of the household.
How mature is Hound?
Upstream is in beta, so this is an early-access listing: the core library, playback, and tracking flows work well, but expect rapid change and the occasional rough edge.
Can I watch on my TV?
Yes, via the official Android TV app (sideloaded), which logs straight into your ElfHosted instance. iOS and tvOS apps are in development upstream.
