Early Access
Floppy is a brand-new addition to ElfHosted, and is considered beta. It runs, we test it, and your trial lets you check it fits before you commit. Our team is still building up experience with it, so lean on the upstream wiki, experiment freely, and share what you learn in Discord, where the community and team are working these new apps out together.
What is Floppy?
Floppy is an open-source media tracker and personal media diary, built by dannyvfilms and its contributors. It began as a fork of Yamtrack by FuzzyGrim, and has grown into its own project, with music and podcasts treated as first-class media rather than extras.
Movies, TV, anime, manga, books, comics, games, board games, music and podcasts all live in one library. Floppy shows how far through everything you are, what to pick up next, and a history you can scroll back through month by month. Everyone in the house gets their own account, lists and stats.
Key Features
- One library for everything: Films and box sets sit next to manga volumes, board games, albums and podcast episodes.
- Progress you can act on: See how many episodes are left in a show, how long until you're caught up, and what's next on the pile.
- History and stats: A filterable history feed, plus recap-style statistics for any date range: time watched, pages read, listening time, top authors and reading streaks.
- Lists, including smart ones: Private or shared lists, and smart lists that fill themselves from rules you set.
- Upcoming episodes calendar: See what airs next, and subscribe to the feed from your calendar app.
- Bring your history: Import from Trakt, Simkl, MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu, Goodreads, StoryGraph, IMDb, HowLongToBeat, Grouvee and more.
Works With
- Jellyfin, Plex and Emby: Point a webhook at Floppy and what you play logs itself, with a now-playing card while it runs.
- Pocket Casts: Connect your account and podcast listening keeps itself in sync.
- Your phone: Add Floppy to your home screen from the browser and it opens like an app.
Coming from Yamtrack?
Floppy reads Yamtrack's CSV export as it is. Export from Yamtrack, import it in Floppy under Settings, then Import, and your history comes with you. Floppy's own export uses the same format, so your data can always leave again.
Already run Yamtrack with us? Start a Floppy trial, bring your CSV across and try both side by side. When you've picked a favourite, switch your subscription from your account page.
Why Run Floppy on ElfHosted?
A diary only earns its keep if it's still there years from now. ElfHosted keeps Floppy running, so you can get on with the next episode.
- Managed and maintained: Your instance is ready in minutes, we keep it updated, and friendly humans answer on Discord.
- Search that works from day one: Title lookups are set up for you, so there's no API key to register before you add your first film or show.
- Your family, your accounts: Floppy has its own sign-in, so family members don't need an ElfHosted login. You create their accounts, and sign-up and password recovery stay behind your ElfHosted login.
- Backed up every day: Restore to an earlier date yourself from your ElfBot dashboard, or ask Sam to do it.
- Part of Flex: Floppy is in the Flex Collection, so it can be one of the apps in a Flex plan.
- Simple subscription: One flat monthly price with a 7-day trial, cancel anytime.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sign in?
With Floppy's own username and password, plus authenticator codes if you want two-factor. Your family never needs your ElfHosted login to use it.
How does my family join?
The first account you create becomes the admin. Then, signed in to ElfHosted, open Floppy's sign-up page and create an account for each family member. Sign-up and password recovery need your ElfHosted login, so nobody else can make accounts on your instance.
Can my media server update Floppy automatically?
Yes. Each Floppy user gets their own webhook URL for Jellyfin, Plex and Emby, and their own calendar feed URL. Those work without a sign-in, so your server and calendar app can reach them.
I use Yamtrack. Can I move over?
Yes. Export a CSV from Yamtrack and import it in Floppy under Settings, then Import. The formats match, so ratings, progress and history all come across.
Can I support the people who make Floppy?
Please do. Star the project on GitHub, report bugs upstream, or sponsor its developer on GitHub. Floppy stands on Yamtrack's shoulders, so give Yamtrack a star too.
